Diamond Ring - Tips on Choosing the Right One

Choosing a diamond ring can be quite confusing and sometime quite intimidating especially if that ring is meant for someone very special. If you are about to make this purchase then keep reading! The first and most fundamental thing about buying a diamond ring is getting the right size. Rings can be made a size smaller or a size bigger but it is always better to have the right size.

The setting and the base metal
Once you have settled on the size of the ring the next step would be to decide on the metal and the setting of the stone. You can choose from gold, white gold and platinum diamond rings. After you choose the kind of metal then you look at the kind of setting you want. For example are you looking for a ring with just a solitaire or are you looking for one with a side stone setting?

The cut and colour
The cut of the diamond is also a point to consider. There are different cuts that you can choose from- the princess cut, square cut, oval cut, round cut etc. At this point you should consider what will look good on the hand that you are going to place the ring on. Another aspect that you should consider is the colour of the diamond. An ideal choice would be a colourless diamond. If this is not available the near colourless option would also be a good choice. However, remember that better the colour, the higher the price.
The clarity and carat

Size does matter. One of the most important things that you need to consider is the actual size of the stone. As the size of the stone increases its price also increases exponentially. Therefore, it might be a good idea to focus on the clarity and the colour of the diamond more than the size especially if you are on a budget. Clarity ratings of diamonds vary from flawless to ones with flaws in them. Once again flawless diamonds are extremely expensive. You could also consider the IF or the VVS1 rated varieties.
